Tata Motors today launched the Tigor in EV powertrain, previously Tata launched the Nexon EV which has become highest selling electric vehicle in India. Now Tata has finally launched 2nd EV i.e. Tigor, it is based upon Tigor facelift. It is powered by the Ziptron technology.

Though Tata had launched the pre-facelift Tigor with EV powertrain but only for Government fleets and for commercial purpose, but now it is available for private buyers too.

Powertrain and Range deatils:

Tata introduces new Ziptron EV powertrain which uses a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. It produces 75bhp and 170Nm of torque. It gets a 26kWh battery which is Lithium-ion type. It can go from 0-80% in just 1 hour (with DC fast charging). It is rated with IP67 water and dust resistance. The battery will give a range of 305km on a single charge. While the older model delivered just 140km. Tata provides 8 years or 1,60,000 Km warranty on the electric motor and battery.

Tata claims that Tigor EV can do 0-60kmph in 5.67 sec and will provide range of 305km. The battery can be charged with 15A charger which is a slow charger that will provided at your house. It also follows CCS2 charging protocol which is globally accepted method. As mentioned fast charger will take 1 hour for battery to go from 0-80%.

The Tigor EV is based upon the regular Tigor Facelift, but Tata has done some changes so that it can be differentiated from regular Tigor. It gets a gloss black panel upfront with blue accents. It gets blue accents inside the headlights, it also gets halogen based projector headlights with LED DRLs which are integrated inside the bumper, It also gets new fog light housing. ORVMs will be finished in black in dual tone variant. It gets new 14inch styled steel wheels. It gets EV batching on the fender which is quite obvious.

It will be available in only 2 color options i.e. Teal blue and Daytona grey. You can also opt for dual tone option which will be offered only with top variant i.e. XZ plus. Dual tone option are Teal blue with black roof and Daytona grey with black roof.

No major changes from the regular Tigor, it gets blue inserts on the dashboard, It gets a rotary dial for drive mode selection just like Nexon EV.

Prices and variant wise specifications:

Tigor EV starts from 11.99 Lakhs to 12.99 Lakhs, it will offered with 3 variants, XE, XM and XZ plus.

  • XE variant:

  • XM variant:

  • XZ plus, also comes with dual tone option:

We know how Tata cars are safe and built well, Tigor and Tiago offer best safety, 4 star rating from Global NCAP. Tata always focuses on safety and they will continue to provide it, they know its importance that passenger's life and Tata already allowed Global NCAP to test Tigor EV and as usual it got 4 Stars.

Buying a Electric vehicle will help you to get subsidy from State Government and EV vehicle owners no need to pay Road Tax. Electric Vehicles also decrease pollution and slowly the EV market will grow gradually in coming years and slowly the charging infrastructure will improve. Tata Tigor becomes 2nd EV vehicle in their EV line-up. Nexon is already the best selling EV car in the market and now Tigor comes at more affordable than Nexon, offers range similar to Nexon.

Tigor will be the only vehicle to come in Electric powertrain in the segment, competition does not offer EV and that will help Tata to gain sales in EV zone.
