On 8th March '22 Volkswagen revealed the much awaited mid-size sedan Virtus, official bookings are booking open and you can book one at nearest Volkswagen dealer. Volkswagen has planned to launch the Virtus in May 2022.

Volkswagen sub-brand Skoda launched Slavia last week and now Volkswagen has revealed its sibling Virtus. Virtus is almost same as Slavia, only certain changes are present to differentiate between both of the cars. Volkswagen Virtus will replace the Vento in the mid-size sedan market.

Like the Slavia, Virtus is based on Skoda-Volkswagen 2.0 India project. Volkswagen Virtus is already available abroad, Volkswagen has launched facelift version of Virtus yesterday in India.

Volkswagen Virtus Dimensions:

  • Length: 4561mm
  • Width: 1752mm
  • Height: 1507mm
  • Wheelbase: 2651mm
  • Boot space: 521L
  • Ground clearance: 179mm

Skoda Slavia was best one to offer best in segment wheelbase, but with that Virtus offers even more, more length, more taller when compared to Slavia and other cars in the segment.

Volkswagen Virtus exterior features:

The Virtus looks aggressive and sportier than the subtle Slavia, especially the GT variant looks sporty and sharp. Upfront Virtus gets smaller grille with Chrome inserts, which connects both the headlights, headlight unit consists of LED and halogen projector units with LED DRLs. Down is radiator which has a chrome insert too with halogen fog lamps. Still the Virtus aggressive version of the Vento. Volkswagen tells that Virtus gets Limousine looks.

At the side, it gets blacked out roof and ORVMs with GT variant badge, chrome window line, chrome inserts on door handles, sportier 16inch wheels with black alloys(which will be reserved only for GT variant). Overall the car gets lot of aerodynamic cuts and creases.

At the rear Virtus gets all LED taillights with black hue, a lip spoiler, the rear bumper gets sliver insert down there.

Overall the car looks sharper and sportier than the Slavia for sure, looks aggressive looks which many of them will like and may go with Virtus.

Volkswagen Virtus color options:

Volkswagen Virtus interior features:

The Virtus gets dual tone dashboard, on the GT variant you will get red inserts/ insert based on your color choice on the dashboard. Regular Virtus variants will get different treatment. At the center is a 10.26inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The AC controls are shared from the Slavia.

It gets 8inch instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, Auto AC, Volkswagen will also offer connected car tech with Virtus. It will offer Leather seats, sunroof, Auto dimming IRVM, flat bottom steering wheel, key-less entry, wireless charging, ambient lighting and much more.

Volkswagen Virtus safety features:

Virtus will come with safety features like ABS, EBD, ESC, Tyre pressure monitor, 3 rear headrest, 6 Airbags, reverse parking camera, multi collision brake system, Hill hold control, rain sensing wipers and more.

Volkswagen Virtus Engine & Transmission:

Virtus just like Slavia will offered with 2 Turbo petrol engines, 1.0L TSI and 1.5L TSI. The 1.0L will produce 113hp and 178Nm of Torque. It will be offered with 6 speed manual and 6 speed Torque converter gearbox. 1.0L TSI will deliver 19.47kmpl and with AT it will deliver 18.07kmpl of mileage.

The more powerful 1.5L will produce 148hp and 250Nm of Torque, it is matted with 6 speed manual and 7 speed DSG gearbox. This is most powerful engine in the mid size sedan but sadly it will be offered with performance line-up.

Volkswagen Virtus rivals and pricing:

As said earlier, Volkswagen just revealed the car and proper launch is gonna happen in May 2022. We expect prices will be more or less similar to Slavia. Virtus will compete against the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
