Citroen C3
Citroen is a French Automobile manufacturer and had entered into India this year with their Citroen C5 Aircross SUV. The carmaker is planning to launch a small car in the Indian market, it will be launched in 2022, new C3 but now Citroen has unveiled it Globally and given us idea how the car will look like and what features it will offer. Citroen has revealed what the C3 Indian model will offer in the small car segment. According to Citroen C3 will sit into compact SUV segment.
Lets find what Citroen has to offer in the compact SUV in the form of C3 and how it will compete with other cars in the segment.
Citroen is steering clear by calling C3 as a compact SUV but still by its dimensions and design it is just a hatchback crossover, as Citroen CEO Vincent Cobee called it a “hatchback with a twist".
Citroen C3 Exterior:
As a hatch-crossover, the C3 will be 3.98m in length and will offer some qualities of a SUV like good ground clearance, raised bonnet, roof-rails for a crossover look, upfront the car follows split headlight design with X shaphed LED DRLs on the top which connects the big Citroen logo and down is the main headlight with DRLs. Down it has a big radiator grille with faux skid plate with fog lights housing.
At the side, we can see the roof rails for a SUV like appeal, dual tone diamond cut alloy wheels, fender mounted side turn indicators, body cladding, blacked out A,B and C pillars and dual tone variant getting dual tone ORVMs.
At the rear, the bumper gets dual tone finish with faux skid plate treatment. The tail lights are shaped in rectangular form and gets a roof mounted spoiler.
C3 will be offered in 9 single tone color options i.e. Perla Nera Black, Ruby Red, Almond Green, Soft Sand, Orange Power, Shark Grey, Arctic Steel, Cobalt Blue, Polar White and will also come with dual tone paint job:
White with Power orange roof
Almond Green with white roof
Power Orange with black roof
Shark Grey with black roof

Citroen C3 Interior:
Inside the C3 gets dual tone dashboard scheme, orange and black finishes with dot effect on the orange panel. At the center is a large 10inch infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple Car-play and smartphone mirroring functionality. The dashboard ends get large sized AC vents with split design. Down is a traditional old styled AC controls and it also packs a digital instrument cluster. It comes with a 3 spoke steering wheel with MID controls and infotainment controls. The tweeters are mounted on the A pillars.
The fabric seats with orange stitching looks funky and Citroen will allow customers to decide their style and color of the seats. There are no exact figures about the width of the cabin, but Citroen says it will provide market leading space and comfort. Based on the pictures, we can see that there are only 2 headrest's and mostly it will comfortable for 2 passengers. The rear window controls are placed between the front seats.
Engine and specification:
Citroen says that C3 will be made with 90% local sourced components which will allow them to price it aggressively. The C3 will be made on Common Modular Platform(CMP) platform.
Citroen haven't revealed any details about the powertrain but we believe that it will get 1.2L Turbo petrol engine which produces 110hp and 200Nm of torque and will be offered with both manual and automatic gearbox options. There are reports that the entry level model may get a Naturally aspirated engine. Chances of Diesel powertrain is very less.
Citroen C3 pricing and launch:
Citroen haven't revealed the prices of the car obviously, as the launch is gonna happen in first half of 2022. The expected prices will be 5-10 Lakhs(ex-showroom). The C3 will rival the Maruti Ignis, upcoming Tata Punch and Hyundai Casper. C3 will be manufactured in the Thiruvallur plant in Chennai. Production will commence in December and launch will happen in 2022.
